You Are What You Eat

There was a time when we could count on the food we ate to give us excellent nutrition, but that time is long gone! Our food is not what it use to be, but we still have to have it!

I can remember going to the garden with my grandmother, and watching her tend to a huge garden and apple, peach and pear orchard. Any vegetable you can think of she grew it. She grew all the food we ate, and sold to the markets in the area. This was a time when farmers put love and care into growing our food. They rotated the crops regularly to insure the soil was fertile for each crop to be grown each year. They didn’t alter the seeds in anyway, so back then our food was pure as it should be now…but it’s not!

Unfortunately, that does not happen today. Farming is big business, because we all have to eat and there’s lot’s of money to be made. There are many short cuts taking place in order to market huge amounts of food to the masses.

The meat that is available at a reasonable cost is not grass-fed, although grass-fed meat can be purchased at a higher cost. Grass-fed beef is our best choice, because that is what cattle should eat to be healthy. Most cattle on the industrialized farms of today are fed corn, which is not the correct diet for a cow. Corn fattens the cow and makes it ready for market faster, but that’s not good for us as humans. What makes them fat, makes us fat as well!

Most of our vegetables are genetically modified, (GMO). What is modified in the seed, also makes its way into our bodies, and so far it is creating havoc on the lives of many. Most people don’t realize that whatever is added to our food gets added to our bodies one way or another.

Today there are many people sick and dying, and they haven’t figured out yet that our food is the source of most of the illnesses today. Our bodies were not meant to process many of the additives that companies incorporate into our food. We all must eat to live, so we do it at our own risk. We are at the mercy of companies making food that we may or may not need to eat, but since we have to, we all do.

It’s up to us to make the choices that benefit us as humans. Food is necessary, so we should choose the best no matter what the cost. Our only hope is to go Organic. I have and I feel so much better. There are no GMO’s in organic food. It costs more, but so worth it. Organic food is much like what my grandmother grew when I was younger…nothing added…just pure nutrition.
